3. Carry a letter from your primary health care provider describing any pre-existing condition and prescriptions that you are on. Also, bring medicine in clearly labeled containers. Be sure to check with a foreign embassy if you are allowed to bring them into the country.
4. If preferred, you can obtain a list of English-speaking foreign healthcare provides from the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers.
5. If you are a senior citizen, contact AARP regarding foreign medical coverage, since Medicare does not cover medical or hospital costs outside of the United States.
6. Thoroughly complete the information page of your passport, with name, address and emergency contact number. In the event of an emergency, this information is critical.
